Method
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Add tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in water or broth and stir well.
- Simmer for 8–10 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Toast buns if desired.
- Spoon turkey mixture onto buns and serve.
Notes
For extra nutrition add diced bell peppers or grated carrots to the turkey mixture.
