Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1 tbsp flour. Transfer to baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form. Stir in nuts if using.
- Sprinkle crumble over apple mixture.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until topping is golden and apples are bubbling.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, mix a pinch of cardamom into the crumble topping.
