- Prepare and cool a baked pie crust.
- Heat milk and cream until steaming.
- Whisk sugar, cornstarch, salt, and egg yolks.
- Temper eggs with hot milk, then return to saucepan.
- Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Stir in butter, vanilla, and coconut.
- Pour into crust and chill until set.
- Whip cream with sugar and vanilla, then spread on pie.
