Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix ground meat, grated onion, garlic, yogurt, olive oil, and spices.
- Mix very well until the mixture becomes smooth and sticky.
- Shape meat into a thick log on parchment paper.
- Wrap tightly in parchment paper, then wrap again in foil.
- Place on baking sheet and bake for 50–60 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours.
- Slice meat into thin slices.
- Pan fry slices in a little oil until edges are crispy.
- Serve in pita bread with vegetables and sauce.
Notes
Chilling the meat before slicing is very important so you can slice it thin like real doner. Pan frying after slicing gives crispy edges.
