Ingredients
  

Brisket
  • 3-4 lb beef brisket
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves

Equipment

  • Large Dutch oven or slow cooker
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Skillet

Method
 

  1. Season brisket with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Sear brisket in olive oil until browned on both sides.
  3. Cook onions and garlic in the same pot until softened.
  4. Add broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, thyme, and bay leaves.
  5. Return brisket to pot and cover with liquid.
  6. Cook slowly for 3–4 hours in oven or 6–8 hours in slow cooker.
  7. Rest brisket before slicing against the grain.
  8. Serve sliced brisket with sauce.

Brisket tastes even better the next day as flavors continue to develop.
